dc.description	The M. americanum river shrimp commonly referred to as "Cauque" represents a species with great potential for commercial cultivation given its large size, market and economic value. Although it has a series of important challenges to achieve its domesticaciópor be an omnivorous species with carnivorous tendencies and to have a greater degree of territorialism than other prawns (Holthuis, 1980). This species is one of the largest shrimp of the genus, reaching a total length of up to 250 mm in males and 193 mm in females. It has commercial value in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia. Most of the works reported for this species are under experimental conditions in clear water. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to determine the effect of seed size on the growth of cauque in semirústicos ponds, in a system of cages.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	El camarón de río M. americanum denominado comúnmente como “Cauque” representa una especie con un gran potencial para su cultivo comercial dado su gran tamaño, mercado y valor económico. Aunque tiene una serie de retos importantes para lograr su domesticaciópor ser una especie omnívora con tendencias carnívoras y tener un mayor grado de territorialismo que otros langostinos (Holthuis,1980). Esta especie es uno de los langostinos más grandes del género, llegando a medir una longitud total de hasta 250 mm en machos y 193 mm en hembras. Tiene valor comercial en México, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panamá y Colombia. La mayoría de los trabajos reportados para esta especie son en condiciones experimentales en agua clara. Por lo que la finalidad del presente trabajo fue determinar el efecto del tamaño de siembra en el crecimiento del cauque en estanques semirústicos, en un sistema de jaulas.	es_ES
