dc.description | Topical pimecrolimus is an alternative treatment of atopic dermatitis. However, rare cases of malignancy have been reported with their use. This study was performed to investigate the possible geno- or cytotoxic effect in mouse bone marrow caused by systemic absorption of pimecrolimus 1% cream. In order to determine this, induction of micronucleated erythrocytes (MNE) in mouse peripheral blood was determined after the cutaneous application of three different doses, daily for 5 consecutive days. No differences were found in frequencies of polychromatic erythrocytes, MNE, and micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes in the different groups of study. In conclusion, under described conditions, no geno- or cytotoxic effects were detected after the cutaneous application of pimecrolimus. | es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | El pimecrolimus tópico es un tratamiento alternativo de la dermatitis atópica. Sin embargo, se han reportado casos raros de malignidad con su uso. Este estudio se realizó para investigar el posible efecto genotípico o citotóxico en médula ósea de ratón causado por la absorción sistémica de pimecrolimus 1% de crema. Para determinar esto, se determinó la inducción de eritrocitos micronucleados (MNE) en sangre periférica de ratón después de la aplicación cutánea de tres dosis diferentes, diariamente durante 5 días consecutivos. No se encontraron diferencias en las frecuencias de eritrocitos policromáticos, MNE, y eritrocitos policromáticos micronucleados en los diferentes grupos de estudio. En conclusión, en las condiciones descritas, no se detectaron efectos genotípicos o citotóxicos después de la aplicación cutánea de pimecrolimus. | es_ES |
