dc.description	In Mexico, there is a high incidence of health-related problems among indigenous ethnic groups that are otherwise prevented and have a low impact in non-indigenous rural communities. The Mexican Ministry of Health acknowledges that this problem may be in part due to the fact that the vision of the indigenous patient regarding health issues has been omitted from official programmes. In this paper we show that although understanding cultural aspects is crucial in the development of a culturally-sensitive view of health care service provision, it is also of paramount importance to observe aspects concerning intercultural communication issues, such as differences in expectations regarding interaction patterns. The case of the Huichols, an indigenous ethnic group in Mexico, is presented.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	En México, existe una alta incidencia de problemas de salud entre los grupos étnicos indígenas que de otro modo se previenen y tienen un bajo impacto en las comunidades rurales no indígenas. El Ministerio de Salud de México reconoce que este problema puede deberse en parte al hecho de que la visión del paciente indígena con respecto a temas de salud ha sido omitida en los programas oficiales. En este trabajo se muestra que si bien la comprensión de los aspectos culturales es crucial en el desarrollo de una visión culturalmente sensible de la prestación de servicios de salud, también es de suma importancia observar aspectos relacionados con la comunicación intercultural, tales como las diferencias en las expectativas sobre patrones de interacción. Se presenta el caso de los huicholes, un grupo étnico indígena en México.	es_ES
