Resumen:
Antecedentes: El manejo de los residuos peligrosos biológico infecciosos (RPBI) es una actividad de primordial importancia en las instalaciones de salud para garantizar la salud de los trabajadores, pacientes y la población en general. Objetivos: Conocer el cumplimiento de la normatividad existente sobre los RPBI en un hospital de Nayarit. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo mediante una encuesta a 22 profesionales de un hospital de Nayarit. Resultados. 2.4% de incumplimientos en la etapa de identificación y envasado, 48.6 % de incumplimientos en la etapa de recolección. Los problemas principales detectados fueron: incumplimiento de lavado y desinfección después de cada ciclo de recolección (25%) y exceder el límite de llenado de los recipientes (22.7%). Conclusiones: Existe un riesgo potencial de contaminación por RPBI. Es urgente que la gerencia del hospital tome las medidas administrativas pertinentes para disminuir este riesgo.

Background: Management models infectious biological hazardous waste (RPBI) is an activity of primary importance in health facilities to ensure the health of workers, patients and the general population. Objectives: To determine compliance with the existing regulations on RPBI in a hospital in Nayarit. Methods: descriptive study using a survey of 22 professionals from a hospital in Nayarit. Results: 2.4% of defaults in the identification stage and packaging, 48.6% of defaults in the collection stage. The main problems identified were: failure to wash and disinfect after each harvest cycle (25%) and exceeding the limit of filling containers (22.7%). Conclusions: There is a potential risk of contamination by RPBI. It is urgent that the hospital management to take appropriate administrative measures to reduce this risk.
