dc.description	The shape and size of the dental arch of the human being has been studied for more than one century. In this period of time, there are several studies with the intention of linking forms and size of dental arch between different races, sex, or the type of dental or skeletal malocclusion. Because the form of dental arch may vary, different analysis of mathematical, geometric shapes and computerized methods, have been proposed with the intention of facilitating the representation of forms of dental arch. For the orthodontist is important to classify the patient's dental arch form, especially if wires are used with forms of arch, since they contain information you transmit through the braces to the teeth and adjacent tissues. Choosing an inadequate form of arch can create problems of recurrence after orthodontic treatment.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	La forma y tamaño de la arcada dental del ser humano ha sido estudiada por más de un siglo. En este periodo de tiempo existen diversas investigaciones con la intención de relacionar las formas y tamaño de arco dental entre diferentes razas, el sexo o también el tipo de maloclusión dental o esqueletal. Debido a que la forma de arco dental puede presentar variaciones, se han propuesto distintos análisis de formas matemáticas, geométricas y métodos computarizados, con la intención de facilitar la representación de la formas de arco dental. Para el ortodoncista es importante clasificar la forma de arco dental del paciente, especialmente si se utilizan alambres con formas de arco con memoria, ya que estos contienen información que trasmiten a través de la aparatología fija a los dientes y tejidos adyacentes. Elegir una forma de arco inadecuada puede crear problemas de recidiva después del tratamiento de ortodoncia.	es_ES
