dc.description	The objective of this article is to present an analysis of the origin and evolution of the term competition and as it has been adopted in the Educational Institutions. From a historical perspective the term competition is not new, it has been associated with the ability to perform an activity and emerged in the field of work. Universities use it to validate degrees and to promote student mobility. Each institution has adopted the term to develop vocational training, however, specifying the skills that will be worked on by students and teachers has been a slow process.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	El objetivo del presente artículo es presentar un análisis del origen y evolución del término competencia y como ha sido adoptado en las Instituciones Educativas. Desde una perceptiva histórica el término competencia no es nuevo, ha sido asociado a la capacidad de realizar una actividad y surgió en el ámbito del trabajo. Las universidades lo utilizan para homologar las titulaciones y para favorecer la movilidad de los estudiantes. Cada institución ha adoptado el término para desarrollar la formación profesional, sin embargo, especificar las competencias que serán trabajadas por los estudiantes y docentes ha sido un proceso lento.	es_ES
