dc.description	The city is the human habitat par excellence (Castro and Salvo, 2001); demonstrated by the number of urban population in comparison with the rural population and urban growth is not only a phenomenon typical of large cities, but extends throughout the territory including intermediate cities. Urban expansion has various effects on the earth's surface such as the loss of productive land, increases the pressure in environments with a high ecological interest, fragments and saturates the landscape, causes the intensive use of natural resources, ending up with a significant portion of the same.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	La ciudad es el hábitat humano por excelencia (Castro y Salvo, 2001); demostrado por el número de población urbano en comparación con la población rural y el crecimiento urbano no es sólo un fenómeno propio de las grandes ciudades, sino que se extiende por todo el territorio incluyendo a ciudades intermedias. La expansión urbana tiene diversos efectos sobre la superficie terrestre como la pérdida de suelo con valor productivo, aumenta la presión en ambientes con un alto interés ecológico, fragmenta y satura el paisaje, provoca el uso intensivo de recursos naturales acabando con una porción significativa de los mismos.	es_ES
