Resumen:
¿Qué cambios traen consigo la política de reconversión, y/o la reducción de superficie cultivada de tabaco, a los saberes histórica y tradicionalmente asociados a dicho cultivo? Como eje que guía la presente investigación, planteamos que la política de reconversión productiva del tabaco (que entró en vigor a partir del año 2004) no ha tenido eco en la zona tabacalera de la costa norte de Nayarit. Sin embargo, continúan los vaivenes en la superficie y productores habilitados pero, más que por la política de reconversión productiva, esto es fundamentalmente por el comportamiento del mercado de tabaco a nivel internacional, lo que trae consigo un reacomodo al interior de las localidades históricamente dedicadas a este cultivo, así como en los saberes asociados al mismo.
