dc.description The Lerma River rises in the Almoloya del Río springs, in the State of Mexico, and crosses the Toluca Valley towards the Northwest, forming part of the Lerma-Chapala-Santiago Hydrographic System, with a length greater than 700 km, which is one of the most important hydrographic systems in Mexico, since it concentrates agricultural and industrial activities. The activity with the highest water consumption is agriculture, especially in Bajío, where 66% of the irrigation districts are concentrated. Discharges of wastewater from cities, industries and agricultural activities contaminate the Hydrographic System and modify the quality of water. es_ES
dc.description.abstract El río Lerma nace en los manantiales de Almoloya del Río, en el Estado de México, y atraviesa hacia el Noroeste el valle de Toluca, forma parte del Sistema Hidrográfico Lerma-Chapala-Santiago, con una longitud mayor de 700 km, el cual es uno de los sistemas hidrográficos más importantes de México, ya que en este se concentran las actividades agrícolas e industriales. La actividad con mayor consumo de agua es la agricultura, especialmente en el Bajío donde se concentra el 66% de los distritos de riego. Las descargas de aguas residuales de ciudades, industrias y actividades agrícolas, contaminan el Sistema Hidrográfico y modifican la calidad del agua. es_ES
