dc.description	Currently, most orthodontic specialists have increased interest in the approach of not extractions in their treatments. One of the methods to perform treatments without extractions would be the "stripping" or interproximal wear of the enamel.The technique of "stripping" consists of the removal of interproximal enamel to relieve crowding.The present review details the different clinical procedures of "stripping" ", as well as scientific findings and the comparison between them, mentioning the different materials and instruments that are used to perform interproximal wear, as well as a review of the effects that each of them could cause, and suggestions are given on the best methods to carry out the "stripping" .The advantages and disadvantages of this method of orthodontic treatment are explained.Some consequences that the technique or method of interproximal wear of the enamel could bring, damages that could suffer this, as well as as adjacent tissues, for example the periodontium and the same dental pulp. The clinical case presents the development of the 'stripping' technique in an adult patient, treated in the orthodontic specialty clinic of the Autonomous University of Nayarit, in this case, with rotating equipment and a disc for 'stripping' and abrasive metal strips. In addition to the crowding, the patient presents incisal wear in their previous pieces, so at the end of the treatment she was referred to the oral re-habilitator. dc.description.abstract	En la actualidad, la mayoría de los especialistas en ortodoncia han incrementado el interés por el enfoque de no realizar extracciones en sus tratamientos. Uno delos métodos para realizar tratamientos sin extracciones vendría a ser el 'stripping" o desgaste interproximal del esmalte. La técnica de "stripping" consiste en la remoción de esmalte interproximal para aliviar el apiñamiento. La presente revisión detalla los diferentes procedimientos clínicos de "stripping", así como hallazgos científicos y la comparación entre ellos. Se mencionan los diferente materiales e instrumental con el que se cuenta para realizar el desgaste interproximal así como una revisión de los efectos que podrían causar cada una de ellas y se da sugerencia sabre los mejores métodos en la actualidad para realizar el"stripping". Se explican las ventajas y desventajas de este método de tratamiento ortodóncico. Se hace mención de algunas consecuencias que podría acarrear la técnica o método de desgaste interproximal del esmalte, daños que podría sufrir este, así como los tejidos adyacentes, por ejemplo el periodonto y la misma pulpa dental. En el caso clínico se presenta el desarrollo de la técnica de 'stripping" en una paciente adulta, tratada en la clínica de la especialidad en ortodoncia de la Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit, en este caso, con equipo rotarío y un disco para 'stripping" y tiras metálicas abrasivas. Además del apiñamiento la paciente presenta desgaste incisal en sus piezas anteriores por lo que al final del tratamiento se remitió al re habilitador oral.
