Resumen:
En este artículo se enumeran los acontecimientos históricos más significativos sobre las migraciones internacionales del siglo XX, que pudiera considerarse como el siglo de las migraciones masivas y de los desarraigados. Lo anterior, con el propósito de reflexionar sobre los comportamientos que en el pasado ha mantenido dicho fenómeno, definir su situación en la actualidad y comprender sus tendencias en lo que llevamos del siglo XXI. Se identifican los vínculos y diferencias entre los fenómenos de la inmigración y el asilo, materias estrechamente relacionadas, pero que precisan un tratamiento distinto.

This article lists the most significant historical events with respect to international migration in the twentieth century, which can be regarded as the century of mass migration and the uprooted. the goal is to reflect on the behavior that has maintained this phenomenon in the past, to define its current situation, and to understand the trends in migration so far during the twenty-first century. the connections between immigration and asylum are identified, as are their differences. both these phenomena are closely related but must be treated differently.
