dc.description	Background: The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) has increased at an alarming rate in recent years worldwide and in Mexico. The interaction of genetic and environmental factors explains this increase. Some studies have found an association between alcohol consumption and the development of DM2, but others have not. In other studies, the Taq I A polymorphism of the DRD2 gene has been associated with alcohol addiction. Objective: To determine if there is an association between the pattern of alcohol consumption and DM2 as well as its relationship with Taq I A1 DRD2 polymorphism in individuals residing in the state of Nayarit.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	Antecedentes: La incidencia de la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) ha aumentado a un ritmo alarmante en los últimos anos a nivel mundial y en México. La interacción de factores genéticos y ambientales explica este incremento. Algunos estudios han encontrado asociación del consumo de alcohol con el desarrollo de la DM2 pero otros no. En otros estudios se ha encontrado asociación del polimorfismo Taq I A del gen DRD2 con la adicción al alcohol. Objetivo: Determinar si existe asociación entre el patrón de consumo de alcohol y la DM2 así como su relación con el polimorfismo Taq I A1 DRD2 en individuos residentes del estado de Nayarit.	es_ES
