dc.description	This descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study was conducted through a probability sample of the school population, which was structured by randomly selected clusters and strata. In order to carry out the fieldwork, we counted on the collaboration of six interns of Odontology, previous calibration and training of the tasks to be carried out. In March and April 1999, 25 primary schools were visited in the city of Tepic, Nayarit, valuing a total of 450 children, 150 teachers and a similar number of parents to that of the monitored children, in order to establish the real conditions of the oral cavity of the school-age child and the existing correlation with the aspect of educational formation. This research assessed the clinical and cognitive aspect of the child from the dental point of view; the educational aspect of oral health from the perspective of the teacher and according to the stipulated in the program of Natural Sciences that is carried in primary education and finally, the aspect of oral hygiene habits from the family point of view.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	El presente estudio de tipo descriptivo, observacional y transversal, fue realizado a través de una muestra probabilística de la población escolar, la cual se estructuró por conglomerado y estratos, seleccionados aleatoria mente. Para la realización del trabajo de campo se contó con la colaboración de seis pasantes de Odontología, previa calibración y adiestramiento de las tareas a realizar. En el lapso comprendido de marzo y abril de 1999, se visitaron 25 escuelas primarias de la Ciudad de Tepic, Nayarit, valorando un total de 450 niños, 150 docentes y un numeró similar de padres de familia, al de los niños monitoreados, con la finalidad de establecer las condiciones reales de la cavidad oral del niño de edad escolar y la correlación existente con el aspecto de formación educativa. En esta investigación se valoró el aspecto clínico y cognoscitivo del niño desde el punto de vista odontológico; el aspecto educativo de la salud oral desde la perspectiva del docente y de acuerdo a lo estipulado en el programa de Ciencias Naturales que se lleva en la educación primaria y por último, el aspecto de hábitos de higiene oral desde el punto de vista familiar.	es_ES
