dc.description The study of the coral community of the southern zone of Bahía de Banderas, Jalisco., Was carried out from October 1997 to April 1998, in order to obtain the structure of the hermatypical coral community and determine the factors that affect the development of them. Seven study areas were established where coral communities were found, these being Caletitas, Majahuitas, Basurero, Yelapa, Chocota, Chimo and Las Iglesias, which present a narrow platform with steep slopes and direct exposure to the waves, also show an annual influx of several rivers that contribute a small amount of terrigenous sediments, not altering the transparency of the water because these are precipitated by the bathymetric characteristics of the area, likewise, it is formed by rocks up to depths of 15 to 20 m with some sand segments with the exception of of the last three locations (Chocota, Chimo and Las Iglesias), which between 9 and 12 m deep have very wide sand segments that prevent the establishment of hermatypic corals. es_ES
dc.description.abstract El estudio de la comunidad coralina de la zona sur de Bahía de Banderas, Jalisco., se llevó a cabo a partir del mes de octubre de 1997 al mes de abril de 1998, con el fin de obtener la estructura de la comunidad coralina hermatípica y determinar los factores que afectan el desarrollo de las mismas. Se establecieron 7 áreas de estudio en donde fueron encontradas comunidades coralinas, siendo estas Caletitas, Majahuitas, Basurero, Yelapa, Chocota, Chimo y Las Iglesias, las cuales presentan una plataforma angosta con pendientes fuertes y exposición directa al oleaje, muestran también afluencia anual de varios ríos que aportan poca cantidad de sedimentos terrígenos, no alterando la transparencia del agua debido a que estos se precipitan por las características batimétricas de la zona, asimismo, está formada por rocas hasta profundidades de 15 a 20 m con algunos segmentos de arena a excepción de las tres ultimas localidades (Chocota, Chimo y Las Iglesias), que entre los 9 y 12 m de profundidad presentan segmentos de arena muy amplios que impiden el establecimiento de los corales hermatípicos. es_ES
