dc.description	The consumption of alcohol in young Mexicans is not homogeneous, since depending on aspects such as the age or sex of the subject, the frequency and amount of alcohol consumed varies. Previous studies have found that students in the health area are at risk of developing dependency despite their academic training. Objective: to identify the pattern of alcohol consumption of students in the health area and the variables that can significantly predict it. Methods: a cross-sectional study, observation to correlation, in students from first to fourth grade in the area of health sciences of the Autonomous University of Nayarit (UAN). Probabilistic sampling by conglomerates was carried out. The test for the identification of disorders due to the use of alcohol AUDIT was used. Statistical analysis included square X ^ 2 and discriminant analysis. Results: The population was 898 students, 57.8% women, and 42.2% men with an average age of 19.5 years. The prevalence of social consumption pattern was 74%; and 26% of the students had a high risk consumption, presented a pattern of harmful consumption 2% and 1% showed signs of dependence. Risk consumption was more frequent in 59% males and 29% in dentistry students, especially those who only study 56%.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	Él consumo de alcohol en jóvenes mexicanos no es homogéneo, ya que dependiendo de aspectos como la edad o el sexo del sujeto, varía la frecuencia y la cantidad de alcohol que se consume. En estudios previos se ha encontrado que los estudiantes del área de la salud son un grupo de riesgo de desarrollar dependencia a pesar de su formación académica. Objetivo: identificar el patrón de consumo de alcohol de estudiantes del área de la salud y las variables que significativamente pueden predecirlo. Métodos: un estudio transversal, observación al de correlación, en estudiantes de primero a cuarto grado del área de ciencias de la salud de la universidad Autónoma de Nayarit (UAN). Se realizó muestreo probabilistico por conglomerados. Se utilizó la prueba para la Identificación de trastornos por el uso de alcohol AUDIT. El análisis estadístico incluyó X^2 cuadrada y análisis discriminante. Resultados: La población fueron 898 estudiantes, 57.8% mujeres, y 42.2 % hombres con edad promedio de 19.5 años. La prevalencia de patrón de consumo social fue de 74%; y 26% de los estudiantes tuvieron un consumo de riesgo alto, presentaron un patrón de consumo perjudicial el 2% y el 1% mostraron signos de dependencia. El consumo de riesgo fue más frecuente en varones 59% y en estudiantes de odontología 29%, especialmente los que solamente se dedican a estudiar 56%.	es_ES
