dc.description	The newspaper - journalism in general - that emerged in Mexico during the second half of the nineteenth century, has been used generally as a source of information in historical studies from the same era, but rarely, has taken it as an object of study . Never before, at least in the region and in the period covered by this study, had considered two concepts in the same work. The intent of this project is to investigate how a newspaper represents –El Correo de la Tarde- the people of Mazatlan during the last decade of the nineteenth century, in 82 relation to their activities during free time, and how these entertainments mythify and becomes representative elements of modernity. Also, observe the transformation of Mazatlan living in conducting such activities as a result of such mystification and how this transformation is shown.	es_ES
dc.description.abstract	La prensa –el periodismo en general- que surge en México durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, ha sido utilizada, generalmente, como fuente de información en estudios históricos de esa misma época, pero pocas veces, se le ha tomado como objeto de estudio. Nunca antes, por lo menos en la región y en el período que comprende este trabajo, se habían considerado ambos conceptos en una misma obra. La intención de este proyecto es investigar cómo representa un periódico -El Correo de la Tarde- a la población del puerto de Mazatlán durante la última década del siglo XIX, con relación a sus actividades durante el tiempo libre, y de qué manera mitifica esos entretenimientos y los convierte en elementos representativos de la modernidad. Además, observar la transformación que viven los mazatlecos en la realización de tales actividades como resultado de dicha mitificación y cómo se representa esa transformación.	es_ES
