dc.description.abstractEl consumo de carne ovina anual en México es de 99 000 toneladas e importa casi el 50%. Estas toneladas faltantes son importadas de Nueva Zelanda, Chile y Australia, donde cuentan con subsidio a la producción y grandes extensiones forrajeras muy superiores en cantidad y calidad a las mexicanas (Arteaga, 2006; De Lucas y Arbiza, 2006). Esta carne importada es distribuida en el mercado nacional en canal congelado a precio de $33.00 y el canal mexicano se vende a $42.00, donde existe una diferencia considerable a favor de la carne importada; señalando que el barbacoyero prefiere la mexicana por su sabor; sin embargo, otros eligen la importada por el menor trabajo que implica comprar animales vivos y el sacrificio (Martínez y Col., 2009).es_ES
